My experience in Ghana working with CLED was nothing short of incredible. I had no idea what to expect beforehand and when I arrived I was introduced to a most welcoming host family as well as Padmore, the founder and director of CLED.
I came to Ghana as a volunteer on behalf of Photographers Without Borders so my goal was to document CLEDs work through photography and video.
I would encourage anyone who has an interest in special education, children’s rights, learning disabilities or social justice to give some of their time to CLED and help move the needle towards a more tolerant and inclusive educational system in Ghana.

For me, working with CLED for the past two months has been an incredible opportunity for growth. Through assisting with Saturday sessions, I have had a chance to help these children with reading and phonics skills as well as art and dance. They have also returned the favor by teaching me some Ghanaian song and dance. I’m certainly excited to return home with some new moves to show off!
I deeply appreciate the opportunity that I’ve had to work with CLED and hope that others will support this worthy organization.
