Help Build the CLED Center
In Ghana the education system is learning disability unfriendly. Parents do not get the support their children need in school. Teachers do not receive training in meeting the learning needs of students with learning disabilities in their classrooms during initial teacher training.
CLED's goal by the year 2020 is to build a multi purpose resource center in a suburb of Kasoa with the objective to provide assessment , intervention and an inclusive demonstration school for :
- screening and remedial teaching for children with learning disabilities and special educational needs.
- students from colleges of education, social work and nursing to shadow and practice how to identify children with learning disabilities and provide appropriate intervention to ameliorate the condition when they complete college.
- teachers and other professionals to shadow and practice inclusive education with learners with learning disabilities.
- parents and general public education.
The center will also have rooms for one-on-one consulting in assessment of children with learning disabilities and special educational needs and consultancy service for parents and teachers.
A library which is accessible to the public to study about learning disabilities and special educational needs as well as a room for seminars and workshops is part of the plan and a room for vocational training for youth.
The land for the center is already bought with the help of a past volunteer -Carrie Lewey from United States, the next aim is to build the ground floor which will have the consulting rooms, office, library , the vocational room and a big hall for remedial teaching.
We thank you for spreading awareness about our fundraising for building the center and donating. Please any amount will help us attain our vision. Kindly contact Carrie Lewey: firstname.lastname@example.org
